VALR supported cryptocurrencies

VALR offers an impressive lineup of 22 different cryptocurrencies, from well-known giants like Bitcoin and Ethereum to a diverse array of intriguing altcoins. With 42 trading pairs available, you have a wealth of opportunities to explore and trade.

VALR supported fiat

VALR makes it easy for everyone by supporting a variety of fiat currencies like ZAR. This means you can deposit and withdraw funds in your local currency without any hassle.

VALR loans

Crypto Loans are available through margin-enabled sub-accounts, where eligible VALR users can borrow supported crypto assets for trading or withdrawals against collateral held in that sub-account. The feature is not available on a Main Account, and borrowing capacity, interest, repayment, and asset availability depend on the margin setup shown inside the platform.

VALR deposit and withdrawal methods

Funding options on VALR include crypto deposits and withdrawals, ZAR deposits by EFT or card, ZAR withdrawals to South African bank accounts, and selected international fiat funding such as USD wire transfer and EUR wire or SEPA transfer. Fees and limits vary by method: crypto deposits are listed as free, crypto withdrawal charges are quoted before confirmation, and ZAR fast withdrawals use a separate bank-payment fee.

VALR restricted countries

VALR availability is broad but not universal. Residents of sanctioned or restrictive jurisdictions are not eligible, and the current blocked-resident list includes the United States, Canada, India, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Cuba, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Syria. Users should confirm eligibility before opening or verifying an account.

Is it possible to use leverage or margin trading on VALR?

Margin-enabled sub-accounts give qualifying VALR users access to leveraged trading in supported jurisdictions. The platform uses a collateralised spot-margin engine, hourly interest on debt balances, and maximum trading leverage of up to 10x, while separate futures terms and fee schedules cover perpetual futures activity. ZAR borrowing has narrower eligibility requirements for qualifying business accounts.

VALR Spot Trading

Current market data shows 43 VALR spot pairs. ZAR, USDT, USDC, and BTC appear as quote currencies, with visible markets such as USDT/ZAR, BTC/ZAR, BTC/USDT, XRP/ZAR, and USDC/ZAR. That mix supports rand trading, stablecoin routing, and crypto-to-crypto execution from the same exchange account.

VALR OTC Trading

For larger or negotiated orders, VALR provides over-the-counter trading services under dedicated OTC terms for eligible account holders. The OTC framework covers quote handling, settlement obligations, applicable fees, default rules, and compliance duties, so these trades may be available separately from the public order book while remaining subject to South African legal and platform requirements.

VALR Fees

The published VALR charge schedule covers fiat and crypto funding, order-book trading, perpetual futures, simple buy/sell, internal transfers, liquidation, and bundle products. The lowest-volume fiat-quote spot tier shows 0.180% maker and 0.350% taker pricing, perpetual futures begin at 0.030% maker and 0.070% taker, simple buy/sell or swap is 1.6%, and crypto withdrawal costs are quoted dynamically by network.
