What is Bitfinex?
Bitfinex offers three main functions: a pure bitcoin to fiat exchange, a margin trading exchange, and a liquidity provider. By segregating customer funds where each user has access to their own wallet which they can review on the blockchain, Bitfinex takes security seriously. On August 3, 2016, however, hackers stole 120,000 BTC from the platform's hot wallet and $65 million worth of Ether tokens from its cold wallet.
